Can’t Source the Part? Here’s What You Can Do.
The machine is fine. The part is the problem.
An obsolete component. A discontinued part. A supplier that no longer exists. A drawing that has disappeared. Whatever the reason, finding a replacement for a critical component can quickly become a much bigger problem than the part itself.
But if you have the physical component, you may already have what you need to recreate it.
BMS Design can use the existing part to capture its geometry, reverse engineer the design and create the engineering data needed to reproduce it.

Don’t replace the whole machine because one part is unavailable
Reverse engineering can provide a practical alternative to searching indefinitely for an original replacement. BMS can work from:
An existing physical component
A damaged or worn part
An obsolete component
Existing drawings or measurements
3D scan data
The process can then move from:
PART → SCAN → CAD → ENGINEERING → MANUFACTURE
So you’re not simply recreating a shape. You’re creating a route to a usable replacement.
A real-world example
BMS has used this approach for Total Oil & Gas in Aberdeen, where components were 3D scanned, reverse engineered and remanufactured.

It’s a good example of where reverse engineering can solve a very practical problem: recreating a component when the original route to replacement isn’t straightforward.
