Restoration - Evo 6 - R60 MRE
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI (Evo 6) “R60 MRE” Restoration
This original Evo VI RS has competed in Rally GB driven by Dan Humphries, a successful BRC championship front-runner. The car is now in classic Mitsubishi Rally Europe (MRE) works team RalliArt livery as when Tommi Makinin famously ripped his back wheel off his Evo V during the 1998 Rally GB, thinking his World Championship title was over, Carlos Sainz only had to drive through the stage when unfortunately his Toyota Corolla WRC car famously broke down just 500 meters before the end of the final stage, what a drama, the golden era of rallying...
This Evo also has a works registration R60 MRE. Richard Burns car was R66 MRE
The restoration goal is to meticulously restore the car in Works Evo 5 livery ready for competition, both gravel and tarmac rallying. The restoration includes shell welding, filling holes, body strip and repaint, wiring harness tidy, interior refit, fuel and brake line replacement, dashboard flocking, suspension and transmission overhaul. The devil is in the detail.
To compete in the British Rally Championship, Rally of Wales (Rally GB), Belgium, Manx and Scottish Mull rallies.
We plan to use the car for promotional media days, for shows such as Goodwood and to take part in classic Group B type rallying events.
We will carry a partner board to show the names of the suppliers and partners that have helped with the restoration.
