Junior/Student/ Graduate Web Application Developer — Freelance / Placement Opportunity (Knutsford, Cheshire) – Work from home / remote

About the opportunity

An early-stage digital platform project, led by an experienced director of an engineering design and manufacturing business in Knutsford, Cheshire, is looking for an ambitious junior web developer or final-year student to help bring a new product to life.

 

The platform connects two groups of users and has a strong focus on using AI to genuinely improve the experience — including AI-assisted content review and automated data parsing — alongside a clean, modern front end. Branding and UI mock-up's are already in place (homepage, sign-up flow, user profile, and checkout/interaction screens), and the project deploys via GitHub and Vercel.

​We're looking for someone who is passionate, dedicated, and hardworking — someone who relishes a challenge, enjoys working with new technology, and can think outside the box to make things happen. Above all, we need someone who can execute and deliver the project. This is a unique opportunity: the successful candidate will effectively be their own boss, with real creative freedom in how they approach the work. This can be a home-based role, with ad hoc meetings as needed to keep the project on track and moving in the right direction.

We have a design brief ready to share, and we'd love to hear from students who can demonstrate examples of previous work — even projects done in their own time. Practical, hands-on experience is very important to us, even if it's entirely self-directed.

 

What you'll be doing;

• Turning existing design mock-ups into a working, responsive front end

• Working with modern, up-to-date web technologies (exact stack open to discussion/your recommendation)

• Helping design a modular, scalable architecture — built to grow cleanly from early users to a much larger user base without needing a rebuild

• Opportunity to get involved in AI feature integration and backend/database architecture as the project develops

We're looking for someone who;

• Is confident with modern front-end development (React/Next.js or similar)

• Is keen to work on a real product from the ground up, not just a tutorial project

• Has an interest in scalable architecture and/or AI integration

• Can work independently and communicate progress clearly

• Is passionate about web development

 

Rate

Up to £20 per hour, depending on experience and ability.
