Junior/Student Web Developer — Freelance / Placement Opportunity (Knutsford, Cheshire)

 

About the opportunity An early-stage digital platform project, led by an experienced director of an engineering design and manufacturing business in Knutsford, Cheshire, is looking for an ambitious junior web developer or final-year student to help bring a new product to life.

The platform connects two groups of users and has a strong focus on using AI to genuinely improve the experience — including AI-assisted content review and automated data parsing — alongside a clean, modern front end. Branding and UI mockups are already in place (homepage, sign-up flow, user profile, and checkout/interaction screens), and the project deploys via GitHub and Vercel.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Turning existing design mockups into a working, responsive front end
     

  • Working with modern, up-to-date web technologies (exact stack open to discussion/your recommendation)
     

  • Helping design a modular, scalable architecture — built to grow cleanly from early users to a much larger user base without needing a rebuild
     

  • Opportunity to get involved in AI feature integration and backend/database architecture as the project develops
     

We're looking for someone who

  • Is confident with modern front-end development (React/Next.js or similar)
     

  • Is keen to work on a real product from the ground up, not just a tutorial project
     

  • Has an interest in scalable architecture and/or AI integration
     

  • Can work independently and communicate progress clearly

 

Rate

£15–£25 per hour, depending on experience and ability.
