Dan Boardman returns to the Isle of Man this weekend aiming to repeat their impressive performance last time out on the Manx Telecom Rally.

His first visit to the island saw Boardman, formerly from Darwen, and co-driver Gina Shelley win their class with ten minutes to spare.

They then followed that with another impressive class win on the Manx International – and beat the British N1 champion “We weren’t out to prove anything, just get to the finish and enjoy the awesome roads,” said Dan.

“The car was completely standard. Gina and I did a good job of the notes, it was our first event together, first closed road event, and the team and car just seemed to gel “It was also my first night stage, it was incredible, the 22-mile stage seemed to last 5 minutes. I could have driven like that all night.

“Everything went smoothly thanks to the team. Unbelievably, we had calls from the team manager telling to slow down, we had plenty of time to ensure we finished”

Dan and Gina, who are seeded at car 64 in their Citroen Saxo VTR, are supported by John Kneen, EBC Brakes, CB Horne, Ballaneven, Todays Holidays, BMS Design Ltd, Lancashire Salvage and Motor Gas Conversions.

Must have at least 4 years SolidWorks experience, modelling and detailed draughting, own seat.

Ideally degree qualified and if possible knowledge of DMFEA/ Critical Characteristics in an automotive or related field.

The last quarter of 2009 saw manufacturing output rise by 0.8%, the ONS said, while industrial output was up 0.4%.
Meanwhile, research released by the National Institute of Economic and Social Research (NIESR) on Wednesday suggested that the UK economy grew faster in the three months to January.
GDP increased by 0.4% over the three-month period, the think tank said.
Looking forward, however, the Bank of England has suggested the outlook for the UK economy remains uncertain.
In its latest Inflation Report, the Bank’s governor, Mervyn King, said: “The UK economy has continued to bump along the bottom, but a gradual recovery in output may now be in prospect.”

Application

Stainless steel’s resistance to corrosion and staining, low maintenance, relatively low cost, and familiar luster make it an ideal base material for a host of commercial applications. There are over 150 grades of stainless steel, of which fifteen are most common. The alloy is milled into coils, sheets, plates, bars, wire, and tubing to be used in cookware, cutlery, hardware, surgical instruments, major appliances, industrial equipment, and as an automotive and aerospace structural alloy and construction material in large buildings. Storage tanks and tankers used to transport orange juice and other food are often made of stainless steel, due to its corrosion resistance and antibacterial properties. This also influences its use in commercial kitchens and food processing plants, as it can be steam cleaned, sterilized, and does not need painting or application of other surface finishes.

Uses in sculpture, building facades and building structures

Stainless steel was in vogue during the art deco period. The most famous example of this is the upper portion of the Chrysler Building (illustrated to the right). Diners and fast food restaurants feature large ornamental panels, stainless fixtures and furniture. Owing to the durability of the material, many of these buildings retain their original appearance.

The forging of stainless steel has given rise to a fresh approach to architectural blacksmithing in recent years.
